Major fully electric car brands in the U.S
The United States has always attached great importance to the development of electric cars. The electric car development strategy chosen in the early stage was to take hybrid electric cars first. After the technologies of electric cars are more mature and can be marketed, they will gradually transition to the stage of fully electric cars. It is the world’s largest electric car market. In 2020, the market share of fully electric cars in the U.S. electric car market has increased to 1.8%
With the development of the American fully electric car market, let’s take a look at the American fully electric car brands.
①Tesla (a fully electric car brand), Tesla (Tesla) is an American electric car and energy company that produces and sells electric cars, solar panels and energy storage equipment, headquartered in Palo Alto, Silicon Valley, California, 2003 It was co-founded by Martin Eberhard and Mark Tarpening in the year.
Tesla’s first car product, the Roadster (see Figure1), was released in 2008 and is the world’s first mass-produced pure electric roadster. This is the first pure electric car that uses lithium battery technology and can travel more than 320km per charge. Its battery is a 18650 battery produced by Panasonic, and its motor is Taiwan Tomita Electric.

In 2012, Tesla released its second car product-Model S (see Figure 2), a four-door pure electric luxury coupe. In Tesla Motors, Model S has a unique chassis, body, engine, and energy storage system. The first appearance of Model S was in the “David Late Show” program in April 2009.

On February 9, 2012, Tesla Motors of the United States released a full-size pure electric SUV model-Model X (see Figure 3). Its rear door adopts an avant-garde eagle wing door shape and is driven by a powerful motor. Its 0~96km/h acceleration time is 5s. This full-size pure electric SUV was mass-produced in 2015. Model X combines the large space of MPVs, the advantages of SUVs, and the advantages of electric cars. This is a car with a good style and built around the driver.

In October 2014, Tesla held a “Plan D” press conference in Hawthorne, California. At the event, the Model S P85D pure electric sports car equipped with dual motors was released (see Figure 4). The car was launched in 2014. Delivery at the end of the year. The Tesla Model S P8SD is equipped with an all-wheel drive system with a maximum speed of 250km/h. The additional radar and camera can identify pedestrians and road signs, and realize functions such as automatic parking, automatic driving on highways, and automatic following in traffic jams.

The biggest change of the new model for drivers and passengers is the upgrade from the original two-wheel drive to four-wheel all-wheel drive, which relies on two motors, one motor drives the rear wheels, and the other smaller motor drives the front. wheel.
Thanks to the new four-wheel all-wheel drive technology, the acceleration time of Model S P85D 0~100km/h is increased to 3.2s compared with the previous car. The new model will increase its driving range by 16km compared to the Model S of the same model, that is, the maximum driving range can reach 442km.
On July 20, 2015, Tesla launched three models, namely the flagship model S P90D, the longest mileage fat Model S 90D/Model S 90 and the entry model Model S 70. Among them, Model S P90D, Model S The 90D is a dual-motor four-wheel drive car, and the Model S 90 is a single-motor rear-wheel drive car.
Tesla also released two low-cost Model S models, Model S 60 and Model S 60D, with starting prices of US$66,000 and US$71,000, respectively. They can be ordered on Tesla’s official website. The rear-wheel drive Model S 60 has a maximum speed of 130mile/h (1mile=1.609344km), an acceleration time of 5.5s from 0-60mile/h, and can travel 210miles on a single charge. The 60D is four-wheel drive, which can travel 218miles on a single charge, and the acceleration is 5.2s at 0-60mile/h.
Tesla’s next car is the Model 3 (see Figure 5). It was first made public in March 2016 and will be delivered at the end of 2017. It is available in SUV and travel cars.

②General Chevrolet Volt (Vorland, see Figure 6). Chevrolet Volt is a range-extended fully electric car (it can also be incorporated into a hybrid vehicle). The whole system adopts a series structure, and the power of the engine is transformed by a generator. Then it is passed to the drive motor. The power system consists of a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged flexible fuel engine and a 16kW·h lithium battery pack, which can achieve a maximum driving range of 1030km, and a battery-driven range of 64km. Using household 220V power supply, the battery can be fully charged in 3.5h, and the engine can be used for charging while driving.

In 2017, GM launched a cheap pure electric car-Chevrolet Bolt (see Figure 7). Its price is similar to that of Tesla Model 3 and has a slight advantage in driving range, but these two cars reflect The two styles are completely different. Folan Bolt is a model that emphasizes pragmatism. Its balanced performance parameters and simple and generous design reflect its pursuit of practicality. If GM can make it domestically, this car will be very competitive. The Chevrolet Bolt is equipped with a battery with an energy of 60kW·h and a motor with a maximum power of 149kW, giving it a driving range of 383km and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in less than 7s.

At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the Opel Ampera-e, the twin model of the pure electric Chevrolet Bolt launched in Europe, was officially unveiled (see Figure 8). The new car has landed on the European market in early 2017. Except for the chrome trim strips on both sides of the front grille logo, the Opel Ampera-e is almost identical to the Chevrolet Bolt, and is also produced in Michigan, USA. Opel Ampera-e uses a lithium battery with an energy of 60kW·h and a maximum motor power of 149kW. The new car can accelerate to 100km/h in 7s. The top speed is 146km/h, and the driving range can reach 322km on a single charge. The cockpit is equipped with integrated 10.2in (lin=25.4mm) LCD screen MyLink entertainment system, OnStar 4G LTE and other equipment.

③Ford Focus electric car (see Figure 9). The Fox electric car was launched at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The instrument panel draws on the basic styling of Ford Fusion Hybrid and Ford Edge. It has three instrument panels that display relevant driving information, and the Ford Myford touch screen system Can display battery charging status, estimated driving range and charging station location

Ford uses the 23kW·h lithium-iron battery pack developed by LG Chem. The maximum power can reach 91kW and the peak torque of the motor is 245N·m. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a single-stage reducer. In addition, the Focus electric car is also equipped with other energy-saving technologies. , Such as electric power steering and energy recovery four-wheel disc brake system.
The Fox electric car can be charged through 120V and 240V sockets. When charging with a 240V charging station, the charging of the lithium iron battery pack can be completed in 3~4 hours. Fast charging can complete 80% charging within 30 minutes, and when charging with a 120V household power supply, the power of the lithium iron battery pack can be fully charged in 18-20 hours.
